A memorial service for Bruce Edward Stanton, 54, of Bainbridge, was held Nov. 28 at Nelson Chapel AME Church in Bainbridge with the Rev. James A. Platt officiating.

Mr. Stanton was born Jan. 11, 1956, in Washington, D.C., and died Oct. 3, 2010, in Tallahassee, Fla.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and relocated to Charleston, S.C., and New York City. In 1977 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and received an honorable discharge in 1981. He returned to New York City, where he resided for many years before returning to Bainbridge in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Stanton.

Survivors include one brother, Michael R. Stanton of Bainbridge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
