A little for a lot

The statistics are somewhat alarming—basically, every three children out of four are eligible for free or reduced lunches in Decatur County; and 97 percent of the students at Bainbridge College are on some sort of financial aid.
Families in the area are struggling. So any help, even if it’s just a little, can go a long way.
The United Way is a prime example of a little giving going a long way to helping out a lot. The 14 agencies the United Way is supporting can make or break whether an individual has food, clothing or a safe place to go to in an emergency.
Another good example is SOWEGA-Live’s Secret Santa drive, which Jennifer Lynne said helped 120 families and 400 children in Decatur County last year. They hope to expand it this year, and collection boxes are already around town.
This drive spans the gamut—from people needing toys to brighten their child’s Christmas, to people needing basics such as laundry soap and a heater.
The radio station is seeking nominations of families to assist, but it’s also a good cause—where a little will give a lot.
