Turkey Shoot at Lake Seminole
Published 2:24 pm Monday, November 8, 2010
It is a fall tradition down at Lake Seminole—the Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department’s Turkey Shoot.
It is a great time for everyone to try out their prowess with a gun.
Saturday, Nov. 20, is the date to circle on your calendar. Eight in the morning is the starting time. Competition will continue until everyone has had his fill. This competition just seems to spring right out of the air as shooters banter back and forth and the gauntlet is thrown.
Rules are the same as in the past. Challengers will compete in teams of 10. These entrants will then shoot at targets provided by the volunteer fire department. Shells will be furnished.
Prizes are turkeys and hams. Just think how proud you will be to come home from the “hunt” with one of these for your Thanksgiving table!
All of this will be accompanied by a spectacular, “all you can eat” pancake and sausage breakfast and the ever-popular bake sale. Serving will begin at 7 a.m. and go until 11 a.m.
The Ladies Auxiliary and Fire Department have put on several of these pancake extravaganzas and they are very tasty.
As for the bake sale, this has been an annual event for many years. These homemade pies, cakes, cookies and more are heavenly. Just picture yourself, sitting with a cup of coffee, munching on one of these divine creations.
The fire department is on Spring Creek Road, (State Route 253). Take this road to the four-way stop at State Route 374. On one corner is Parkside Minit Market. What used to be Ameris Bank is on another, While you are stopped you will see the fire department about a thousand feet from Parkside. It will have all of the wonderful aromas wafting from it. Hope to see you there.
