Funeral services for Sara Carlene Ard, 63, of Iron City, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville with Dr. Gary Smith officiating.

Burial followed at New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Colquitt, Ga., with Roger Lane, Brad Hornsby, Buddy Roberts, Roger Roberts, L.J. Miller and Marcell Sheffield acting as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were employees of the Donalsonville Hospital.

Mrs. Ard was born in Forsyth, Ga., on Dec. 26, 1946, and died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

She was of the Methodist faith, a registered nurse and will be remembered as working at the Donalsonville Hospital for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Kathleen Hughey Porch.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Ard, of Iron City; three sons, Shane Brown of Cedar Springs, Ga., Gary Ard of Sea Grove, Fla., and Steve Ard of Colquitt; one daughter, Kathy Lopez of Euless, Texas; and one brother, Carlton “Buzz” Porch, and 10 grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
