Funeral services for Joan Eidson Dean, 77, of Bainbridge, was held on Monday, Nov. 1, at Black Jack Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
Interment followed at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Otis Dean Jr., Steve Dean, Reggie Dean, Richard Dean, Gary Dean, Tommy Dean, Shawn Dean, Chris Dean and Wayne Wooten serving as active pallbearers.
Mrs. Dean was born May 13, 1933, in Decatur County, the daughter of Landers Guy Eidson and Mamie Elouise Burnam Eidson. She died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at her residence.
She played basketball and was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1949, a homemaker, and a member of Black Jack Baptist Church. She loved watching University of Georgia football, gardening, fishing, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Douglas Dean of Bainbridge; her sons, Kerry Dean and his wife, Pam, of Climax, and Stanley Dean and his wife, Kelly, of Atlanta; her daughters, Barbara Dean Powell and her husband, Rufus, of Bainbridge, and Krista Dean O’Brien and her husband, Dennis, of Savannah; her brothers, Bobby Eidson of Cairo, and Guy Eidson, Jr. of Faceville; her sisters, Doris Joiner of Bainbridge, and Jan Mason of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Jonathan Powell, Matt Powell, Brian Dean, Beth Dean Haberman, Josh Dean, Nikki Dean, Mitchell Dean, Patrick Dean, Reid O’Brien and Caroline O’Brien; and her great-grandchildren, Abigayle Powell, Evan Powell, Maggie Powell, Hannah Powell, Blake Powell and Haley Dean.
