Graveside services for Muriel Hoffman Thomas, 98, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Bainbridge, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Sylvania Cemetery with Mrs. Kay Maton officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Muriel was born Feb. 21, 1912, in Gordon, Ala., and died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville. She was a proficient gardener even into her late 90s, volunteered in numerous capacities at Westminster Woods, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church while living at Lake Seminole near Bainbridge, and was a member of Fruit Cove Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Cecil Hoffman and Sarah Florence Dawsey Hoffman; her husband of 51 years, Bruce Carroll Thomas; a daughter, Carolyn Howard; and a son-in-law, Bill Howard.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Armbruster and her husband, David, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sherri Stratton and her husband, Robert, Bill Howard and his wife, Angie, Terri Shubrick and her husband, John, and Lance Armbruster and his wife, Kelly; and seven great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
