The Rev. Wayne McDonald of Climax performed the double-ring ceremony on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The ceremony was performed under a silk-draped canopy adorned with a floral cascading arrangement.

White roses marked the family pew in memory of the bride’s parents. The memory table held a memory candle and sterling silver framed photographs of the bride’s parents and the table was adorned with an arrangement of fresh flowers and foliage.

A program of wedding music was provided by violinist Katherine Young of Tampa.

Bridesmaids were Sheila Bates of Centre, Ala., Jennifer Massey, Janda Canalis, Tonya Walsh and Ann Rickman, all of Rome. They wore full-length black chiffon gowns of differing styles, and crystal and pearl necklaces and earrings, gifts from the bride.

The bride was met halfway down the rose-petal covered aisle and escorted to the altar by the groom. She wore a white gown featuring a strapless satin bodice accented with beaded embroidery and pearls. The organza ball gown skirt fell into a chapel length train. She wore a finger-tip length veil of tulle embellished with pearls and a silver satin edge. It was complemented by a crystal and pearl tiara. With it she wore a pair of diamond and pearl earrings and a pearl necklace, gifts from the groom.

She also wore diamond bracelets, gifts from Jennifer Massey and the groom’s mother.

She carried a bouquet of vivaldi roses, vandela roses, stock, mini calla lilies in pink and white, interspersed with pearls and tied with white satin ribbon.

The groom chose his father as his best man.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held on the terrace at water’s edge. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier cake featuring alternating layers of strawberry swirl cake with strawberry mousse filling, coconut cake with pineapple nut filling and raspberry swirl cake with lemon mousse filing. It was frosted with cream cheese icing and adorned with dendrobium sugar hydrangea, white calla lilies and pink roses. The vintage cake topper was a musical silver and pearl carriage holding a dancing bride and groom. The groom’s cake was a chocolate ganache cake decorated with tuxedo strawberries and white chocolate-dipped strawberries.

The evening before the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at the Carlouel Yacht Club on Clearwater Beach, hosted by the groom’s parents.

The couple is now at home in Rome and planning an extended wedding trip next summer.
