Funeral services for Dave Brown Lane, 68, of Iron City, Ga., were held Sunday, Oct. 17, at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville with Calvin Arnold officiating.

Interment followed in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Junior Trawick, Kim Rentz, David Barber, Lanier Lane, Craig Griffin and Thomas Stone serving as pallbearers.

Honorary casketbearers were Joe Burke, Buddy Lee, Chris Thomas, Steve Bailey, Jack Shamblin, Danny Watson, Lewis Godby, Phillip Williams, Glenn Heard, Larry Hornsby, Tommy Dollar, Hugh Dollar, Todd Massey, Robert Cohen, Keith Griffin, Timmy Hiers and James Groover.

Mr. Lane was born June 15, 1942, in Decatur County and died Oct. 15, 2010, at his residence. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1960; attended college for two years; then became a successful equipment salesman working for Nichols Tractor for 32 years. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clay Lane Sr. and Lila Russell Lane; two brothers, Thomas Clay Lane Jr. and James D. “Billy” Lane.

He is survived by his wife, Donna H. Lane of Iron City; one son, Doug Lane of Donalsonville; three daughters, Donna Williams of Donalsonville, Heather Mathis of Attapulgus, and Paula Jones of Colquitt; two step-sons Jeremy Dozier of Kennesaw, Ga., and Ben Dozier of Iron City; four sisters, Merle L. Davis of Colquitt, Joy A. Lane of Iron City, Laura L. Easom of Donalsonville, and Marijane L. Scarborough of Iron City; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
