5K will honor Faircloth

Local friends and neighbors will be expressing their love for an outstanding late former young citizen and his family while helping another young citizen start their college career Saturday when they participate in the Epic 5K Challenge 5,000 meter, 3.1 mile run at Spring Hill Christmas Tree Farm.

The event, being coordinated by Bainbridge High Bearcats and Lady Cats cross country coach Mandi O’Mara, will benefit the Dylan Reid Faircloth the First Memorial Cross Country Scholarship, which will be given to a BHS cross country runner.

A part of Dylan, an outstanding young man who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident, lives on through former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback and former high school football coach Stan Gann, who received his heart in a transplant surgery.

Coach Gann will be a special guest at Saturday’s Epic 5K Challenge. Dylan’s mother, Mrs. June Faircloth, put things in perspective when she said the event will honor Dylan’s memory and his love for cross country running while enabling a fellow teammate to advance their education. What a heart-warming thought.
