Betty Rambo-Jackson

Funeral services for Betty Jean Rambo-Jackson, 74, of Bainbridge, were held Friday, Sept. 24, in the chapel of the Hanley-Shelton Funeral Home in Marietta, Ga., with the Rev. Marie Emerson officiating.
Interment followed in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga., with friends of Mrs. Rambo-Jackson’s family serving as active pallbearers.
Born Sept. 21, 1935, in Bainbridge, Mrs. Rambo-Jackson died Sept. 17, 2010.
Mrs. Rambo-Jackson was a 1954 alumnus of Hutto High School in Bainbridge. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Bainbridge in her youth. In 1959, she relocated to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, and married Robert B. Jackson that year.
In 1962, the family moved to Maryland, where Mrs. Rambo-Jackson worked as a volunteer teacher’s aide. In 1974, the family moved to Marietta, Ga., where she was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist and Zion Baptist churches. She was employed with the Cobb County School System for 16 years until her retirement in 1994. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing and baking cakes for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Elizabeth Rambo-Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Jackson Sr.; a son, Robert B. Jackson Jr.; a daughter, Michele René Jackson; a sister, Christine Rambo-McGriff; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Hanley-Shelton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
