The Bainbridge High School Bearcats will host Albany’s Westover High School Patriots Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field.
Like the Bearcats, the Patriots enter the game with a 1-1 record.
Westover dropped their opener 26-14 to the Mitchell County High School Eagles and defeated the Albany High School Indians 21-7.
In Friday night’s win over Albany, the Patriots were led by running back Steve Bowens, who picked up 140 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns.
They are coached by first year head coach Octavia Jones, who came over from city rival Monroe High School to take over the Westover football program.
The Patriots’ special teams were also an important ingredient in their Friday night victory.
After his team earned two points when a snap went over the Albany punters head and into the end zone, Patriots return man Dalviness Greene stepped up on the Indians’ ensuing free kick.
He took the ball in at his own 35-yard-line and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown.
The Patriots base their offense out of an I formation and use a 4-3 defensive set.
