Funeral services for Onie Lee Mitchell, 74, of Bainbridge, were held Friday, Sept. 3, at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rawliegh Furney officiating.
Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery with Josh Hicks, Tracy Glover, J.R. Tindell, Terry Milligan, Todd Milligan and Angel Gomez serving as active pallbearers.
Ms. Mitchell was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Donalsonville, and died Aug. 31, 2010, at her residence.
She was an licensed practical nurse and enjoyed traveling, her home, fishing and taking care of and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her lifetime partner, Henry Joe Kelley; two brothers, Robert “Shorty” Tindell and Jim Buck Tindell.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelby L. Shepard of Bainbridge; one son, Kenneth Lavon Newsome of Bainbridge; a sister Vera Milligan; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
