The Early County Bobcats, who will open their 2010 football season against the Bainbridge Bearcats Friday night in Blakely, have some veteran skilled performers returning.

In 1990, when BHS Head Coach Ed Pilcher was head coach at Early County, current ECHS Head Coach Trey Woolf was his defensive backfield coach.

Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. at Standifer Stadium in Blakely.

Coach Pilcher says the Bobcats have a group of veteran running backs who are both skilled and fast.

Coach Pilcher likes the speed and versatility of Bobcats senior running backs Darius Mitchell, Deangelo Young, Quayven Levatte and Camery Flowers.

“Early County lost quite a few of their linemen to graduation, but they have some good skilled people returning,” coach Pilcher said.

In addition to the running backs, senior Holden Chapman returns at wide receiver.

The Bobcats operate out of the Wing T formation on offense and use an eight man front on defense.

To get to the game, take U.S. 27 North approximately 40 miles north to Blakely, where the highway turns into S. Main Street. In downtown Blakely, turn left onto Columbia Road / Georgia Highway 62, and the stadium will be on the left.
