Funeral services for Pastor Wayne Whiddon, 52, of Climax, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at Climax Baptist Church with Pastors Jimmy Weaver, Stanley Phillips, Steve Poppell and Stan Godwin officiating.
Interment will follow Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. at Lake Bird United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lake Bird, Fla., with Chad Whiddon, Kyle Riche, Tate Griffin, Keith Harrison, Bradley Harrison, Anthony Harrison, Paul Riche, Vince Riche, Randel Logue, John Eakin, Ray Pearson, Roger Nix, Michael Blanton and Evan Shockley serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.
Born June 30, 1958, in Valdosta, Ga., Mr. Whiddon died on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Whiddon was a graduate of Taylor County High School, Class of 1976. He was a retired process development technician for BASF and served as a pastor for more than 10 years. He was a member of Climax Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lida Collins Whiddon.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, June Whiddon of Climax; his daughter, Tonya Whiddon Riche of Bainbridge; his son, Chad Whiddon of Climax; his sister, Suzanne Harrison of Climax; his father, T. Wayne “Buddy” Whiddon and his wife, Lavern, of Climax, and six grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
