Makes one wonder

“Eneu-mono-ultra-micro-scopic-sililo-volcano-konosis” is what, in about three years in Iceland, England, France, Spain, Northern Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Austria and some other connecting countries, a flu-like disease from breathing the volcanic dust that is in the atmosphere all around the world now, makes one wonder if three years prior to the 1918 flu epidemic that killed thousands in Georgia, Florida and Alabama, there wasn’t a volcanic eruption somewhere around the world.

We note that upgrading all the sewer treatment plants in the United States would cost $300 billion.

The Bass fishen here on Ole Sem has been slow this week until Ronnie and Bernice Wilkes took a ton of 3- to 5-pounders in 7 to 8 feet of water.

One other boat did good on bass too, Carl Bail of Waycross took five in deep water and 17 on Buzz Tail in pads and stumps.

The Jack Wingate Thursday Night Big Fish Tournament Series has two more weeks. The finale will be on Thursday night, Aug. 26. There will be a prize given out for the most weight of the year at that tournament.

The pole fisherman, by pole I mean anyone out for crappie, bream, catfish, has had a pretty good week on all three of those fish. The wind being a factor on several days.

The fishen world had three things happen that shook the roots of most people.

First, Ranger boats bought the plastic division of Triton boats and is moving it to Flippin, Ark., where Ranger is built. In case you haven’t been to Flippin, it’s about the size of Climax, Attapulgus or Whigham. Fine people and good boat builders too.

Then at the FLW Classic on Lake Lanier, the officials announced that Wal-Mart, Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Pickens will be the sponsors of the FLW Series. We thought that Bass Pro Shops would sponsor and would only fish on lakes close to a Bass Pro Shop.

We here in Bainbridge are proud to have a local lady in charge of the Chamber of Commerce. I think we have dozens of very smart people in Decatur County that can do anything that needs to be done.

Thought for the week, “Square meals make a round belly.”
