Funeral services for John Wesley Hinson, 83, of Havana, Fla., will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Havana with the Rev. Freddie N. Tellis officiating.

Interment will follow in Butler-McNair Cemetery near Climax.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus.

Born April 5, 1927, in Havana, Fla., Mr. Hinson died on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at his residence.

A lifelong resident of Florida, Mr. Hinson was a retired bus driver for Gadsden County, Fla., schools. He was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Gibson Hinson; a sister, Ann Luter of Indianapolis, Ind., and several children and grandchildren.

Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus is in charge of arrangements.
