Georgia Fleming

A memorial service for Mrs. Georgia Ivey Fleming, 66, of Chula Vista, Calif., and formerly of Bainbridge, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge. A reception will follow.
Born April 24, 1944, in Colquitt, Ga., Mrs. Fleming died on July 12, 2010, after a battle with a rare and aggressive cancer discovered in early June.
Mrs. Fleming moved to Bainbridge at the age of 8. There she became a gymnastics partner with John, who would become her loving and devoted husband on March 17, 1963. That union brought her into the Navy community, traveling the world for 20 years. She will be remembered as a talented dancer and majorette, and devoted friend and classmate. Mrs. Fleming was Miss Bainbridge of 1962. She was a member of the Chula Vista (Calif.) Presbyterian Church for 34 years, where as an Elder she served in many leadership positions. She enjoyed music and cooking.
Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth Ivey of Sylvester, Ga.; her husband, John; two sons, Brian of Denver, Colo., and John III of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Jo Boyd of Sylvester, Ga., and Sue Parr of Albany, Ga.; her mother-in-law, Mildred Fleming of Bainbridge; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
