Funeral services for Horace B. “Red” Jackson, 89, of Brinson, will be held Friday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Stanley Phillips and Ellis Hardwick, and Pastor David J. Broome officiating.
Interment will follow at Brinson Cemetery with Curtis Wacaser, Jimmy Fowler, Gary Frasier, Tommy Powell, Roger Yates and Jimmy Hornsby serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 29, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.
Born April 26, 1921, in Brinson, Mr. Jackson died on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Brinson High School and served in the U.S. Air Force with the Aviation Engineers during World War II. He was an electrical contractor and founded Jackson Tubing and Conduit. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, American Legion Post 62 and the Charlie King Garden Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Meltz Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Glaphrey Hoff Jackson of Brinson; his brother, Clarence Bethea Jackson of Chapin, S.C.; his sisters, Jessie Mae Jackson Cox of Warner Robins, Ga., and Dorothy Nell Jackson Rainey of Albany, Ga.; and many nephews and nieces.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of funeral services.
