The Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Southern Regional Championship, hosted by the American Bass Anglers (ABA) and originally scheduled for Tensaw Delta in Mobile, Ala., has been moved to Bainbridge and Lake Seminole due to the BP Oil Spill.
Weigh-ins for the tournament will be held each day at 3 p.m. at the Earle May Boat Basin.
The dates for the Bassmaster Weekend Series have been changed to October 16-17 (Saturday and Sunday). The tournament was originally scheduled for Oct. 15-16, but has been pushed back a day so that anglers competing in the FLW BFL Regional the following weekend will be able to fish both events. FLW has declared tournament waters off limits from Oct. 9-15.
“Due to circumstances beyond ABA’s control we had to change the location of the tournament,” ABA president Morris Sheehan said.
“Early in the process we looked at several locations and chose Bainbridge for its location and Lake Seminole for its tremendous bass fishery.”
“The city of Bainbridge is well prepared for this event,” city manager Chris Hobby said.
“As part of Governor Sonny Perdue’s Go Fish Georgia initiative, the city is the recipient of mega-ramps being built at the Earle May Boat Basin, which includes three new multi lane boat ramps.
“The project schedule calls for the ramps to be ready by October 1, just in time to host the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series Regional Championship.”
Angler registration will be held Thursday, Oct. 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Boat Basin’s Performing Arts Building stage.
