School system registration dates released

All students that will be enrolling in a Decatur County public school for the first time or transferring to a different school within the school system must be registered at the appropriate school.

Date for that registration are the following:

 Through Thursday, July 22, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

 Friday, July 23, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

 Tuesday, July 27, through Thursday, July 29, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

 Friday, July 30, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

 Tuesday, Aug. 3, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

 Wednesday, Aug. 4, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m., elementary schools only; 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., middle and high schools only.

 Thursday, Aug. 5, the last day for school registration, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The parent/guardian of the student should go to the school for which the child is zoned to complete the registration.

Any questions concerning correct zone can be answered by calling the Decatur County Schools Bus Shop at 248-2204.

Parents will need to take the child’s certified birth certificate, immunization certificate, Social Security card and proof of residence to the registration.

Acceptable proofs of residence include current rent receipt, power bill, water bill, or, if living with a relative, a notarized letter with one of the previously named bills attached. If a child has not completed his/her immunization, the Health Department should be contacted.

Open House for all schools will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. All students and their parents are invited to attend.

The first day of school will be Friday, Aug. 6.
