Primary elections to be held Tuesday

Published 8:15 pm Friday, July 16, 2010

This Tuesday, primary elections will be held for candidates of both political parties, with voting to be conducted at nine county precincts.

Due to the nature of primary elections in Georgia, voters will only be able to select between ballots for either the Democratic or Republican parties. Independent candidates will not be shown on ballots until the Nov. 2 general election.

Kathy Cox, who was to be the incumbent Republican candidate for state school superintendent, has resigned and withdrawn her name from the primary ballot.
