Brown making his mark with Blazers

Former Bainbridge High School first-team All-Region 1-AAAA running back Mike Brown is continuing his outstanding play with the Valdosta State University Blazers.
He was redshirted as a true freshman in 2007, when the Blazers won a national championship.
Brown, No. 25 for the Blazers, saw action in all 12 Blazer games in 2008. He was the team’s third leading rusher, with 60 carries for 342 yards and two touchdowns.
One of his touchdowns was a 35-yard, fourth quarter game-winner against Newberry. He averaged 5.6 yards a carry.
Brown’s other touchdown came on a three-yard run against West Georgia. He had a season-high 129 yards in the game, including a season long 49-yard run.
In 2009, former Bearcat Brown was part of a 70-6 victory over Edward Waters College from Jacksonville, Fla. at Valdosta’s Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. The point total tied the largest in school history.
Brown had touchdown runs of 1 and 15 yards against Edward Waters.
For the season in 2009, Brown, who played in 10 games, had 45 rushes for 206 yards, including two touchdowns. He had three catches for 84 yards, and two kickoff returns for 36 yards.
