Dylan Faircloth, a 2010 graduate of Bainbridge High School, died after being injured in a single-car crash in Clay County, Ga., on Friday afternoon, according to Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin.
Faircloth, 18, died early Saturday at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga., according to Ivey Funeral Home.
The accident happened at 1:35 p.m. Friday on the bypass around Bluffton, Ga., just inside Clay County, said Trooper 1st Class Tommy Bonner of the Georgia State Patrol’s Cuthbert, Ga., post.
Faircloth’s car overturned and he was ejected from it, TFC Bonner said.
The state trooper said he did not believe Faircloth was wearing his seat belt.
Initially, Faircloth was taken by ambulance to Early County Hospital in Blakely and from there he was transported to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville by an emergency medical helicopter, Sheriff Griffin said.
Faircloth was one of three captains on the BHS boys’ cross-country team this past year. He was a member of the Academic Bowl team and was also among the seniors who received special recognition at the school’s annual honors night.
