Getting the pick of the litter

T’was sed yesterday by an ex-city official of Colquit that his wife had triplets and he kept two and gave the doctor the pick of the litter.

Mr. Krante of Albany came by Friday on his way up river to Albany by boat and sed he had traveled from Minnisota down to New Orleans and the intercoastal waterway to Lake Seminole and then to Albany.  Hope he made it.  By the way, he said the name of his little bitty boat was “Dumarse,” think that fits?

Kathy McDaniel landed a 30-pound catfish on the west side of the dam at Chattahoochee.

John Garrett of Sneads landed three stripers and four hybrids on live bait Wednesday, and he had done it two days before. I think he knows what it’s about.

With 52 boats fishen the Backwoods Outdoors Saterday. Frank Jordan Jr. and Frank Jordan Sr. won first place with 26.19 pounds of fish. Terry Buther and Russ Pearson won second place with 25.53 pounds. Third place was tied with Jason Smith and Rusty Hatton weighing in the same amount as Brad Hamric and Clark Bass with 25.22 pounds.

The Big Fish was caught by Phil King and Charlie Stephenson at 7.32 pounds.

There was 12 bags of fish weighing more than 20 pounds.

The Bassin’ Gals weighed in at 4 p.m. Mercia Brown took first place with 18.16 pounds. She also had the Big Fish at 6.16 pounds.

As we sorta halfway predicted, bream hit the beds Friday morning and there is oodles of bream for the taken.

Crappie was taken on jigs and minnows most of the week. Lots of good catches was made, big ones in the stumps and smaller ones along the grass.

Mike Prindle and Brian Satterfield won the Jack Wingate Thursday Night Big Fish tournament last week with a 7.84-pounder.
