Funeral services for Deacon Charlie C. Collier, 76, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, July 3, at New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Iron City, Ga., with the Rev. Jasper Brown officiating.
Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Miller County, Ga., with Brandon Hairston, Bryan Spencer Collier, David Lee Stanford, Keith Givins, William Taft Collier Jr. and Michael Bell serving as active pallbearers.
Born Dec. 19, 1933, in Colquitt, Ga., Mr. Collier died on June 26, 2010, at Miller Nursing Home in Colquitt, Ga.
Mr. Collier attended Miller County public schools and was an active member of New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Iron City, Ga. He served as a church deacon between 1998-2010.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita L. Collier; two brothers, the Rev. William Taft Collier and Alphonzo Collier Jr.; and a sister, Annie Rebecca Sumpter.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Collier of Iron City; a daughter, Charlene C. Bruton and her husband, Peter, of Bainbridge; a son, David Gregory of Crestview, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Laura Randolph of Iron City, Daisy Collier and Johnnie Ruth Collier Roberts, both of Albany, Ga., and Darlene Collier Erby of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Jackson and Stepehen Collier, both of Albany, Ga.; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
