Stevens wins four gold medals

Tara Marie Stevens won gold medals in four events and a silver medal in another at the 47th annual Inland Port Invitational Swim Meet Saturday, June 5, at the YMCA pool.

Stevens swims in the 11-and-12-year-old division for the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Extreme Swim Team, coached by Karla Norris of the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club. Stevens won the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 41.47 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 6.16 seconds.

She also swam home first in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 35.84 seconds and the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1 minute, 18.83 seconds.

Stevens captured second place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 30.64 seconds.

The Inland Port Swim Meet is the only remaining event from Bainbridge’s Inland Port Day, a festival which was held in the 1960s.
