Radford Jones

Funeral services for Radford Jones, 85, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Monday, June 7, in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Revs. James Scarborough and Malcom Parker officiating.

Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville with military honors. Joel Jones, Jason Jones, Shawn Odom, Tracy Odom, David Hodges and Bradley Varnum served as active pallbearers.

Born in Houston County, Ala., on Feb. 7, 1925, Mr. Jones died on Friday, June 4, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Jones served in the military during World War II in the Philippines and in Japan. The Rev. Jones was ordained by the Georgia Council of the Assemblies of God in 1984 and pastored a number of churches in Georgia and Alabama during his many years in ministry. In addition to his pastoral work, he also served on the Georgia District of the Assemblies of God Presbytery Board. He will also be remembered as working on outboard motors at City Marine in Donalsonville.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Jones; a son, Lamar Jones; two daughters, Martha Odom and Linda Hodges, both of Donalsonville; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gloomer Jones, Robert Jones, Eulis Jones, James Jones and Wyatt Jones; and sisters, Lois Strickland and Ettis Mae Wood.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
