Good catch

What may be one man’s turkey is another man’s … well, let’s just say his big catch.
Score one for Bainbridge as it finally landed a good catch because work has been permitted and begun on the mega ramps at the boat basin.
The city’s selection as one of only 10 sites by the state to receive funding for the governor’s Go Fish initiative may seem like a lot of pork for just some fish, but it’s deeper than that.
The city and state will combine to spend $1 million on the mega ramps and improving the park with restrooms and better access to the Flint River and Lake Seminole.
The goal for completion of the ramps is in time for the big B.A.S.S. tournament scheduled for October. Nationally known bass fishermen will stay anywhere from three to five days in Bainbridge, spending good money that will in turn return to local coffers. The state estimates that anglers spend more than $569 million each year on fishing in Georgia, with an economic impact of $1.5 billion.
But the ramps aren’t just for out-of-towners.
Check out the boat basin’s use on a pretty, holiday weekend. Hundreds of trucks, trailers and boats line up to spend hours on the river and lake. It’s for our use too.
So good catch.
