Erie Jenkins

Funeral services for Erie Doretha Williams Jenkins, 90, of Havana, Fla., will be held Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Freddie Tellis officiating.
Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery with John Dixson, Henry Maddox, Milford Adams, Lorenzo Andrews, Fontae Gaines and Bernard Copeland serving as active pallbearers.
Born March 18, 1920, Mrs. Jenkins died on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mrs. Jenkins attended the public schools of Gadsden County, Fla. She joined Mount Zion A.M.E. at a young age, later joined the Senior Choir and was an active member of the church until her illness. She was a retired farm laborer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Jenkins; a daughter, Vivian Bernice Jenkins; two sons, Johnny Otis Jenkins and Oliver James Jenkins; two brothers, Robert Williams and James Williams; and two sisters, Maxie Cox and Bernice Robinson.
Survivors include a daughter, Gwendolyn Gary of Tallahassee, Fla., two sons, Charles Gary and Dwight Jenkins, both of Havana, Fla.; a godson, Lorenzo Andrews of Havana; two sisters, Edna Mae Hamlet of Orlando, Fla., and Vida Mae Copeland of Havana; several in-laws, 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Melton Mortuary in Attapulgus is in charge of arrangements.
