Bearcats build experience at camp

Coach Rickey McCullough’s 2010-2011 Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team defeated the Thomasville High School Bulldogs 63-32 Thursday to wrap up a strong team camp effort at the new Bainbridge High School gymnasium.

Earlier in the day the Bearcats dropped a close game to the Early County High School Bobcats.

“We lost to Early County by six or seven points,” Bearcats head coach Rickey McCullough said after his team’s win over Thomasville, “but some of our players were not able to be here for that game.

“We had all of our players together against Thomasville and really played well.’

The Bearcats took command of the game with Thomasville early, jumping out to a 20-0 lead. Rodney Glenn gave them a quick 3-0 lead with a long jumper from the right side.

Devon Baulkman scored 5 of the first 20 points. The Region 1AAAA player of the year in 2009-2010 when the Bearcats went 27-5, were region champions and went to the State Class AAAA Final Four for a second consecutive season.

Baulkman put the Bearcats up 10-0 when he hit a three point jumper from the left side with 12:30 left in the first half. He then hit a jumper from the left side at the 11:06 mark to make it 12-0.

Leading 37-13 at halftime, the Bearcats remained hot in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 26-19 in the second half to nail down the victory.

Lee Glaze put them up by 35, at 59-24, when he hit a jumper with just 48 seconds left in the game.
