The Leesburg father-and-son team of Robert and Rick Tindell pulled in a five-fish limit weighing 24.60 pounds Sunday to win the $2,000 first prize, their second consecutive Bainbridge Bass Club Memorial Day Weekend Buddy Bass Tournament on Lake Seminole.
After weighing in their winning catch at Wingate’s Lunker Lodge on the 39th anniversary of the tournament, the Tindells, who topped a 48-boat field, reported catching their fish on top water lures and Texas rigging in the Spring Creek area of the lake.
They won last year’s 38th edition of the tournament with a five-fish limit weighing 25.90 pounds.
The lunker of the day, which tipped the scales at 8.29 pounds, was caught by Steve Bushore of Bainbridge. He reported catching it around 9 a.m. flipping in the Spring Creek area of the lake.
W.C. Johnson of Faceville and Tommy Tullis of Tallahassee, Fla., finished second with a five-fish limit weighing 23.22 pounds.
Capturing third place was the team of Terry Butler of Thomasville and Russ Pearson of Columbus. They had a five-fish limit weighing 22.96 pounds.
Taking fourth and fifth places were Clint Brown of Faceville and Kim Brown of Quincy, Fla., with 19.83 pounds, and Robbie Brown of Nashville and Randy Henderson of Valdosta with a five-fish limit weighing 18.71 pounds.
Mason Brock of Marianna, Fla., and Clay Wells of Chattahoochee, Fla., were sixth with a five-fish limit weighing 18.35 pounds. Bailey Gross and Joe Bridges of Columbus were seventh with 17.66 pounds.
A special award was given to the angler catching the smallest fish of the day. It was won by Richard Predmore of Recovery with a fish weighing 0.68 pounds.
