Just lot of fish

For you gun lovers, I must remind you the Hasan Shrine Temple in Albany will have their Gun Show on June 5 and 6.
Lots of catfish came in this week. The full moon was Wednesday and that may have helped. One boat had 40 pounds of catfish on bream busters, four poles busted and one 10-pounder was landed on a bream buster.
Crappie did very good this week. We think they took jigs and minnows most of the week. Some of them were culled to 1-1/2 pounds. That is good big crappie.
We had the Lake City Bass Busters fish with us this past Saterday. Wow, what a crowd of good people. Third place went to Robert Nash and Danny Harpee with 12. 17 pounds, second place went to Crist and Mike Johnson with 14.92 pounds and first place went to Dewey Moore Jr. and his son with 25.26 pounds. They also had the Big Fish—an 8.34-pounder. There was 18 boats and lots of family with the fishermen.
Then we had the 39th Annual Memorial Day Tournament out of Wingate’s on Sunday. Our good friend, Joe Crine, from The Post-Searchlight, has been to all 39.
We, as always, start from the bottom and work up.
The very bottom was Richard Predmore with the Smallest Fish. Zip something for a check of $200.
Steve Bushore had Big Fish with a whopping 8.29 pounds.
Third place went to Butler and Pearson with 22.96 pounds, second place went to W.C. Johnson and Tommy Tullis with 23.22 pounds and first place went to Tindle and Tindle with 24.60 pounds. They are a father-and-son team from Leesburg, Ga., and they won it last year. We thought this was the first time anyone had won it back to back; however, with all our brains at work we remembered that Jackie Hamric and Jim Merritt had won it in the early days. It was a great tournament and will be repeated next year for the 40th anniversary.
We must remind our readers again that B.A.S.S. will be at the boat basin in Bainbridge on Oct. 7, 8 and 9 and they expect the four new launching ramps to be in place by then.
