Funeral services for Jessie Elizabeth Nelson, 94, were held Friday, May 28, at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Mrs. Nelson’s grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

Born July 21, 1915, in Clanton, Ala., Mrs. Nelson died on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Clanton (Ala.) High School, was a member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Golden Agers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Geter Lee Nelson; and her daughter, Carolyn Johnson.

Survivors include three sons, Durward Nelson and Dan Nelson, both of Climax; and Charles Nelson of Buffalo, Mo.; her sister, Pearl Bell of Tallahassee, Fla.; a son-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
