Funeral services for Katie Mae Harris Laster, 91, of Philadelphia, Pa., formerly of the Amsterdam community of Decatur County, will be held Thursday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Levy Kelly and Edward Greer officiating.
Interment will follow in Conyers Cemetery in Climax with friends of Mrs. Laster’s family serving as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus.
Born Oct. 16, 1918, in the Amsterdam community of Decatur County, Mrs. Laster died on May 18, 2010, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mrs. Laster had lived in Decatur County until moving to Philadelphia about 11 years ago. She attended Faith Temple Church of Christ in Philadelphia and was a faithful member. She was a retired laborer and housewife.
Survivors include her son, Joe Laster of the Amsterdam community; her step-son, Ray Laster of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her step-daughter, Charlie V. Williams of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her sister, Lillian Harris Davis of Philadelphia, Pa.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter, a sister-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus is in charge of arrangements.
