Bearcats aggressive in spring practice

If Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Ed Pilcher could use one word to sum up his team’s effort during their 10 days of spring practice it would be aggressive.
Practice ended with a Thursday intrasquad scrimmage at the new Bainbridge High School practice field,
“The kids really got after it yesterday and throughout the spring,” Pilcher said Friday morning. “We don’t have a lot of size, but the kids really work hard, are aggressive and get after it.”
Pilcher said overall he was pleased with the team’s 10 days of spring work.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but we are headed in the right direction,” the Bearcats head coach said. “We will start working in the weight room the first of June. We will do weight training Monday through Thursday.”
The Bearcats 2010 season opener will be Friday, Aug. 27, when they travel to Blakely to take on the Early County High School Bobcats.
They will return home Friday, Sept. 3, to host the Cairo High School Syrupmakers in the home-opener at Centennial Field.
As spring practice sessions wound to an end, Pilcher was also expressing pleasure with the pace they had taken.
“The players knew the kind of fast pace we expected and did a good job of keeping it up,” he said.
The Bearcats return senior wide receiver defensive back and punt and kickoff returner Shawn Samuels, and pair of experienced quarterbacks in senior Rohan Gaines and junior Steven Bench.
