All-Region soccer teams named

The names of Bainbridge High School Bearcat and Lady Cat soccer players were prominent on the All-Region 1-AAAA team released this week by the Region coaches.
First-team members included senior forward and midfielder Whitney Thomas of the Lady Cats and junior midfielder, forward and goal keeper Hal Clement of the Bearcats.
Thomas , the Lady Cats leading career goal scorer with 61, scored 22 goals this season and had nine assists.
Clement, despite playing a few games with injury, had 12 goals and two assists and played strong in goal.
Joining Thomas on the All-Region 1-AAAA girls first team was her Lady Cats teammate, senior forward Leanna Flowers, who led the team in goals scored this season with 24, along with 11 assists. She has 51 career goals.
Senior center back Jonathan Warren joined Bearcats teammate Clement on the All-Region 1-AAAA boys first team.
Bearcats Coach Jamie Ard praised Warren for being a key to the team’s success on defense, pointing out that he saved the team several times on recovery runs and was an excellent goal keeper, a position he filled in at times.
Second-team selections were senior midfielder Aubrie Provence of the Lady Cats and senior forward and midfielder Keenan Adams of the Bearcats.
Provence, who will play with Middle Georgia College next season, was praised by Lady Cats Coach Chip Ariail for being a presence on the attack and doing a good job of distributing the ball. She was one of the team leaders in assists with eight and was third on the team in goals scored with eight.
Adams, who Coach Ard described as being very consistent all year long, has 11 goals and four assists.
All-Region 1-AAAA honorable mention selections were senior defender Ashley Edwards, sophomore midfielder Charlton Reynolds of the Lady Cats and midfielder Alex Benjarano of the Bearcats, who had 10 goals and two assists.
