4-H Shotgun Team attends state match

The Decatur County 4-H Shotgun Team competed in the 2010 state 4-H Modified Trap Competition at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on May 8.
The 16 Decatur County 4-H’ers competed against more than 765 other 4-H’ers from across the state.
Decatur County 4-H Junior Team members participating at Rock Eagle included Colby Boyett, Jake Jeter, Ryan Jordan, Maclane Suber, Cole Thomas and James Wilson.
Senior Team members competing included Jacob Hall, Mitchell Massengill, Justin Maxwell, Cody Powell, Trey Suber, Christopher Webster, Wilson Dodd, Lyle Dollar, Alex Long and Garrett Wooten.
In order to attend the state match, all team members must participate in a District Qualification Match. In the qualification match, juniors must break 16 out of 25 targets and seniors must break 20 out of 25 targets to qualify for the state match.
Decatur County 4-H hosted a District Qualification Match at Commodore Industrial Park on April 15.
Decatur County 4-H’ers also competing in the District Qualification Match included Landen Bryant, Jill Overman, Chason Phillips, Robbie Ames, Kenzi Harrison, Jason Long, Blair Nix, Kole Gilbourn, Kylie McGlincy, Jesse Dodd, Mary Anna Dozier.
Garrett Wooten was named second highest senior individual at the District Qualification Match.
Team members have been practicing diligently each week since February under the guidance of dedicated coaches, who include Joe McGlincy, Gary Phillips, Jim Cox, Jerry Sharber, Bert Parker and Mitchell May.
The Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E) is sponsored by The Georgia 4-H Foundation.
