Southern Storm All-Star Cheerleaders showed up ready to compete in a two-day competition at the 15th Annual U.S. Spirit Competition in Universal Studios in the Orlando, Fla.
Storm’s Mini 2 and Junior Teams won the “National Title Jacket” with flawless back-to-back routines. The Mini 1 team placed fifth, and the Senior team placed third.
There were more than a hundred national and international teams competing for the championship title.
Southern Storm Teams turned right around and headed to Panama City Beach, Fla., and brought home two more national titles.
Once again the Junior team came out on top for their third consecutive win, and the Senior team also got a taste of victory. The mini 1 team placed fifth and the Mini 2 team placed third.
“I get chill bumps every time I watch our girls compete. They are not intimidated at all by other teams from around the country because they know they are ready,” said head coach and owner Kim Powell. “They work so hard and make us so proud to be from South Georgia.”
None of this would be possible without the hard work of the coaching staff and the parents support.
Southern Storm is a very competitive program. They travel to competitions that have extreme talent.
“I prefer to go to competitions that improve our talent and challenge us to be better. We may be a small fish in a big pond but boy do we bite, Powell said. “I think all of our winnings speak for themselves.”
Southern Storm will hold their upcoming season tryouts for new cheerleaders on Saturday, May 15. Ages 9 to 11 will be at 9 a.m., and ages 12 and up will be at 10:30.
