Funeral services for Mary Helon Herndon Downing, 80, of Donalsonville, Ga., will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville with the Rev. Eric Boomer officiating.

Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville with Chad Downing, Brad Downing, Blake Downing, Randy Herndon, Ryan Brittain and Jerry Herndon serving as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2 p.m.

Born Nov. 4, 1929, in Madison, Fla., Mrs. Downing died on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.

Mrs. Downing was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleon Downing, and two brothers, Leonard Herndon and Howard Herndon.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Downing and his wife, Peggy, of Donalsonville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville is in charge of arrangements.
