A funeral service for Laverne Powell Laslie, 85, of Bainbridge, was held Sunday, April 25, at Eldorendo Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas P. Long officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Juan Powell, Tony Powell, Ricky Musgrove, Billy Birdsong, Randy King and Jacky Grubbs serving as active pallbearers.

Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Baker County, Ga., Mrs. Laslie died on Friday, April 23, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Laslie was a retired housekeeping supervisor with Bainbridge State Hospital and a member of Eldorendo Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, James Akridge of Mesa, Ariz., Gerald Franklin of Bainbridge and Ronnie Franklin of the Eldorendo community; two daughters, Justine Taylor and Billie June Turner, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Huey Powell of Bainbridge and Robert Lee Powell of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Ann Goodson of Lake City, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
