River Town Days will feature a fun, silly new addition to its lineup of contests this year.

Whether you’ve always wanted to see men running around in high heel shoes or shudder at the thought, you’ll get the chance to witness the spectacle on Friday, May 7, during the River Town Days concerts.

The event will feature men—willingly or not—racing around the Earle May Boat Basin during the festivities.

River Town Days organizers are encouraging people to team together with coworkers or friends and nominate their favorite man to race the 100-yard dash … in high heels!

The cost to enter a man is $100.

Event organizers will send the person who was nominated to run in the race a letter explaining they’ve been entered, although the letter won’t say who is responsible. Each man nominated to be in the race can either be a good sport and run in high heels or pay $100 to opt out of the race. If a man opts out, the persons who nominated them gets their $100 returned.

To enter someone in the race, or to get more information, call the Southwest Georgia Welcome Center at 243-8555.

The River Town Days concert will be held Friday night. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. with Midnight Matinee featuring Searcy Smith followed by the Leigh Mullis Band, a popular regional band fronted by a local girl.

Popular country band The Kinchafoonee Cowboys will headline the concert and take the stage at 8 p.m.
