Lady Cats Region 1AAAA tennis champs

Coach Nicki Shockley’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats are the 2010 Region 1-AAAA tennis champions.

They won the title, the third in a row for Lady Cats tennis teams, Wednesday with two impressive victories at the Region 1-AAAA Tournament at Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston.

Entering the tournament after going undefeated in the regular season, the Lady Cats defeated the Hardaway of Columbus High School Lady Golden Hawks 5-0 in the opening round. In the championship round they downed the Harris County High School Lady Tigers 4-1.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cats will host the Dutchtown High School Lady Bulldogs from Hampton, the fourth-place team in Region 4-AAAA, in the first round of the State Class AAAA Tennis Tournament. Matches will be played starting at 2 p.m. at the new BHS courts.

In singles play with Hardaway, Katie Monson won by default at number one, Kylie McGlincy won 6-4, 6-1 at number two and Anne Reynolds won 6-1, 3-0 at number three.

Doubles play with Hardaway featured Caroline Rollins and Kristen Monson winning 6-0, 6-4 at number one and Kelsey Lambert and Anna Reynolds winning 6-0, 6-0 at number two.

In singles play with Harris County, Katie Monson won 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 at number one, Kylie McGlincy bowed 2-6, 1-6 at number two and Anne Reynolds won 6-1, 6-0 at number three.

Doubles play with Harris County featured Caroline Rollins and Kristen Monson winning 6-2, 6-1 at number one and Kelsey Lambert and Anna Wells winning 6-0, 6-1 at number two.
