Shellcracker Tournament coming soon

The Annual Shellcracker Tournament and Festival, organized by the Lake Seminole Lions Club, will be held Saturday, April 24 at Spring Creek Park Resort.

There will be fun activities and entertainment for everyone. The day will start with the legendary Shellcracker fishing tournament featuring big cash prizes. By 10 a.m. there will be an array of festival booths, entertainment and activities for all ages plus a silent auction and hundreds of fabulous prizes will be raffled.

The tournament starts at 7 a.m, Rules will be given and boats checked at 6:30 a.m. There will be breakfast available at 6 a.m., as well as live bait on sale. Anglers of all ages are encouraged to enter—some of the past winners were under 10 years of age. All entrants aged 12 and under will receive a T-shirt and trophy for participation and be entered into a drawing for a $50 Savings Bond donated by Jean Whittaker Salas.

For all participants, tournament entry includes the chance to win one of the fabulous prizes donated by many of our local businesses and individuals. Tickets for the prize raffle are available to anyone who fishes or pays the tournament entry fee. Prizes will be raffled throughout the day and persons need not be present to win. Tournament entry and/or raffle ticket sales will be open until 1 p.m. Wes Meadows of Media Bass will conduct the fish weigh-in at 2:00 p.m. Fishers may pre-register for the tournament online at www.springcreekwebsite.com Just click on the banner for the tournament.

Vendors offering food, crafts, gifts and activities for children will open at 10 am. Many local organizations will be on site to answer questions, provide demonstrations and give information on a variety of topics. Live entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. with many local favorites ranging from individuals such as Kasey and Micaelah Gale, Hilary Riley, C.J. Jackson, and Sierra Hill, to groups including Heather Ireland and Poplar Road. Members of the SCMHS Green Machine and SCES Chorale will be on hand to entertain.
