The fifth annual Bainbridge High School Deltrice Riles Memorial Sports Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be today, April 10, at Donalsonville Country Club.

Tournament Director Gary Riles said funds from the scholarship foundation will go to senior athletes who demonstrate outstanding athletic performance, show signs of leadership, exhibit a positive attitude and have at least a 2.5 grade point average.

The tournament is named in honor of Riles’ son, Deltrice, who played baseball and football for the BHS Bearcats, but died in a fatal trucking accident on March 3, 2005.

The tournament is being played under a four-man team scramble format with each team member’s second shot being hit from the spot of the longest tee shot. A set of Callaway irons will be given to anyone making a hole in one.

Prizes are being given for first- and second-place, closest to the pin and longest drive.

The scholarship funds will be awarded at the Bainbridge High School Awards Banquet. The scholarship committee will choose the recipients of the scholarship fund.
