A funeral service for Elizabeth Davis Brewer, 100, of Bainbridge, was held Tuesday, April 6, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Gerald A. Little officiating.

Interment followed at Hartford City Cemetery in Hartford, Ala.

Born June 19, 1909, in Newville, Ala., Mrs. Brewer died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.

Raised in Hartford, Ala., she was a graduate of Auburn University and taught elementary school in Florida, Alabama and North Carolina. She and her husband moved to Bainbridge in 1977 and were members of the First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Brewer Jr.; six sisters, her twin, Louise who died at age 2, Minnie Pearl Thomley, Metha Davis, Myrtis Davis, Jonnie Friedrich and Mattie Gauntt.

Survivors include her stepdaughters, Mary B. Jones of San Antonio, Texas, and Virginia B. Wohlford of Atlanta, Ga.; four step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; her niece, Patricia Gauntt Brossett of Bainbridge; her nephew, William R. Friedrich of Black Mountain, N.C.; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
