Lady Cats Rotary champs

Coach Nicki Shockley’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats won the championship, and her Bearcats finished third in a strong four-team field at Saturday’s annual Bainbridge Rotary Invitational tennis tournament.

The tournament, played at Bill Reynolds Sports Park Tennis Center, began with the Lady Cats defeating Baconton 5-0.

In singles, Katie Monson won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1; Kylie McGlincy won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, and Malori Maxwell won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

In doubles, Anna Wells and Kelsey Lambert won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and Kelly Brooks and Caroline Rollins won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

The Bearcats bowed 1-5 in their opening match with Baconton. In their opening match with Baconton, Mitchell Massengil and Scott Overman won 6-2, 7-6 with a 7-1 tie breaker at No. 1 doubles.

The Lady Cats downed Colquitt County 3-2. Katie Monson won 6-4, 7-5, McGlincy won 6-2, 6-7 with a 10-4 tie breaker, and Anna Wells and Kelsey Lambert won 6-4, 6-2.

The Bearcats downed Lee County 3-2. Stone Inlow won 7-6, 6-2, Scott Overman and Mitchell Massengil won 6-3, 6-1, and Bill Holt and Chad White won 6-2, 6-2.

The Lady Cats downed Lee County 5-0. Monson won 6-0, 6-1, McGlincy won 6-0, 6-0, Maxwell won 6-1, 6-1, Rollins and Kristen Monson won 6-0, 6-0, and Wells and Lambert won 6-1, 6-0.
