Funeral Services for Sam Stubbs Sr., 98, of Bainbridge, were held Tuesday, March 30, at First Morning Star M.B. Church in Bainbridge with the Rev. Nathan Reed officiating.

Interment followed in the Breedlove/First Morning Star Cemetery with Mr. Stubbs’ grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

Born June 6, 1911, in Decatur County, Mr. Stubbs died on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, Ga.

He was a member and deacon of First Morning Star M.B. Church and was a farmer. Mr. Stubbs loved planting trees. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adell Stubbs; two sons, Thurman Stubbs and Ben Stubbs, and a daughter, Gerta Brown.

Survivors include seven sons, Billy Stubbs, Bobby Stubbs, Sam Stubbs Jr., Clinton Stubbs, Larry Stubbs, Carlton Stubbs and Ronald Stubbs, all of Bainbridge; two daughters, Annette Allen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Beulah Handsford, of Bainbridge; 36 grandchildren, 54 grand-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Melton Mortuary in Attapulgus was in charge of arrangements.
