Grace cheerleaders finish well

The Grace Christian Academy competition cheerleaders ended their 2009-2010 season on Feb. 27, taking home first place at the Panhandle Christian Conference (PCC) Cheer Off.

The competition was held at Alethia Christian Academy in Pensacola, Fla.

Other schools that competed in the varsity division included Emmanuel Christian School of Dothan, Ala., Central Christian School of Robertsdale, Ala., and Alethia Christian School of Pensacola, Fla.

The Grace competition cheerleaders began their season in November 2009, competing at the Deep South Cheerleading Competition and finishing in first place in the Christian school division.

Later that month, they traveled to Orlando, Fla., and competed at the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders (FCC) Regional Competition. They finished second in the small varsity division.

In December the cheerleaders competed at the FCC National Competition in Orlando, Fla., and finish third in the Competitor’s Cup division.

At the PCC Cheer Off, Sloane Wiggins was named all-conference cheerleader and the most valuable cheerleader.

Other all-conference winners include Laura Leigh Andrews, Sydney Harrell, Merrianna Parker and Abbey Smith.

The GCA Competition Cheerleaders are, including Wiggins, Andrews, Harrell, Abbey Smith and Parker, are Hannah Holden and Annabelle Smith.

They are coached by Mardi McRae and Caroline Eenigenburg.

The GCA Elementary Competition Cheerleaders also debuted at the PCC Cheer Off and received a participation award.

The Elementary Competition Cheerleaders are Gabby Hardee, Hannah Holden, Brycelyn Law, Kate McRae and Abigail Mills. They are coached by Amanda Henderson.
