Funeral services for Mamie Moore McKay, 90, of Bainbridge, were held Thursday, March 18, at Second Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Quincy, Fla., with the Rev. John Gardner officiating.
Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Johnny Bouie Jr., Marcus Stewart, David Jones, David McKay, Tommy Smith Jr. and Amos Porter Jr. serving as active pallbearers.
Born Oct. 16, 1919, in Dothan, Ala., Mrs. McKay died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mrs. McKay attended schools in Arkansas in Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathis McKay; two sons, R.L. McNeil Jr. and Paul Jones; a daughter, Ida McKay; a stepson, Eugene McKay; three sisters, Eunice, Lizzy and Mary; and two brothers, James and John.
Survivors include three daughters, Retha Parks, Catherine Sheffield and Dorothy Davis, all of Bainbridge; a son, James McKay of Donalsonville, Ga.; a sister, Willie Mae Williams; two brothers Willie Stevens and Johnny Walker, both of Quincy; a special pastor and friend, the Rev. Louise Smith; a special friend of the family, Peter J. Bruton; 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
