Runs helped elementary school

More than 100 people participated in the Cougar Roll and Stroll held at Elcan-King Elementary this past Saturday, organizers said.
Proceeds from the event, which featured a five-kilometer race and a one-mile Fun Run, benefited the elementary school. EKE teachers Jamye Hathcoat and Amber Esquivel organized the races.
The overall male winner in the 5K was Gabriel Leitz and the overall female winner in the 5K was Alexa Afton. The top overall male winner in the Fun Run was Connor Poitevint; the top overall female winner in the Fun Run was Mabry Grace Briggs.
Top finishers in the 5K in each age group: Caleb Harris, boys 9 and under; Dani Parker, girls 9 and under; Jim Whitehead, boys 10-15; Perra Harrell, girls 10-15; Shannon Reave, girls 16-20; Kevin Lashley, men 21-30; JoAnn Moore, women 21-30; Scott Ewing, men 31-40; April Aldridge, women 31-40; Richard Hughes, men 41-50; and Julie Harris, women 41-50.
